I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions, and I long ago gave up giving up things for Lent. But there’s something about spring, especially here in DC, that inspires me.

I lived nearly twenty years in Boston, so a New England fall still has to be my favorite season, but spring in DC is pretty close. The pics here (Washington monument, left, and Jefferson Monument, below) were snapped a couple of weeks ago out my car window as I drove either to work or home from work.

Yes, ya gotta love the cherry blossoms, but the rest of the spring is pretty nice too. The azaleas are coming out now, and they are just gorgeous.

It’s a bit of a cliche, but spring reminds me that no matter how dire winter was, there is still the opportunity to bloom.
