Weight check-in

So, as promised, I did my post-vacation weigh-in. Last weigh-in (on January 29th), I hit the century mark, and got down to 275.
Today’s weight: 272.
Sweet! Three pounds isn’t a huge amount of weight for five weeks, but given that at least two of ‘em were vacation/post-vacation off-track eating and it took me a while to get firmly back on track, I’ll take it.
I must also admit that I’m very pleased with this concept of not weighing in after a vacation or other misstep. Had I hopped on the scale on February 10th or 13th or whatever, I might have been tempted to get all bummed about seeing a gain on the scale. And that might have kept me off-track longer.
This way, I know I probably gained a few pounds, but by now, they aren’t only gone, but I’m down a few more. Voila…no major guilt trip!
But now I’m planning to stay on track since it’s about six weeks to the procedure to help rid me of my fibroids. Next weigh-in will be March 20th (two weeks from now).

Do you weigh yourself more frequently but only report it every two weeks? I only recently started reading Act Boldly, so I’m not sure what your routine is.
I’ve switched from a daily morning check-in to once a week, on Monday mornings. I stayed the same this week, and have fallen into a pit of despair about it. I hate, hate, hate when that number rules my life. I’m wondering if weighing myself even less frequently would be more helpful, emotionally.

Debbi, no, I weigh myself pretty much when I post it here. For a while, I was weighing myself every other week, but I’ve actually gone longer stretches (like this recent one), where I’ve decided to give myself a few more weeks to make some forward progress.
And your reaction is exactly the one I’d have, which is why I guess my habit is to pretty much only weigh myself when I have reason to believe the number is down at least a little bit!
This is definitely one of those “your mileage may vary” things…others may need the acountability of more frequent weighing. But my theory is that I can pretty much gauge how I’m doing by how I’m eating and how my clothes fit. So avoiding “bad news” weigh-ins seems to be working well for me!
