Weight of the World

When you’re not getting spammed, blog comments just are the best. The recent rash of comments has prompted me to go coder on you and add recent comments to the right nav. Hope you like it!

One of these comments was from PastaQueen, who has a very, very interesting blog called Half of Me, which I’ve added to both my aggregator and to my blogroll.

Anyways, it’s funny that she posted an item about a workout song she liked, as I had a similar song post on the way.

After re-watching the movie How to Lose a Guys in 10 Days (with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey) this past weekend, I put Chantal Kreviazuk’s CD What If It All Means Something back in rotation in my car. She sings the song Feels Like Home (Real Audio) from the 10 Days soundtrack (the same tune was also sung wonderfully by Bonnie Raitt in the soundtrack to the movie Michael).

Anyways, one of the songs on the album could be an anthem for those struggling with their weight issues. You can hear (Real Audio) a snippet (from Chantal’s website) or read the lyrics after the break.

Weight of the World

I used to carry the weight of the world
And now all I wanna do is spread my wings and fly

I don’t know why I was so afraid… all the time
Memories seemed to bother me.. my whole life

I used to carry the weight of the world
And now all I wanna do is spread my wings and fly
I used to carry the weight of the world
And now all I wanna do is spread my wings and fly

I don’t know why I was so ashamed
Such a waste of time
And I don’t know who I was trying to be
All those lies

I used to carry the weight of the world
And now all I wanna do is spread my wings and fly
I used to carry the weight of the world
And now all I wanna do is spread my wings and fly

Oh and there’s always something
Or somebody right behind
Well we’re not meant to be everything
We’re just a piece
So spread your wings
Oh I don’t know why I was so afraid all the time

I used to carry the weight of the world
And now all I wanna do is spread my wings and fly…

BTW, Chantal really gets around. Her music has been featured on the TV show Dawson’s Creek and another of her songs (Real Audio) was featured prominently in the TV movie Lucky 7 (with Kimberly Williams-Paisley).

Ooh, a double ‘very’ interesting! Thanks! I like your blog too. I felt some synchronicity also when I read some of you older entries. I was thinking “Act Boldy used to weigh 372 pounds and I used to weigh 372 pounds. Act Boldy is a recovering Catholic and I’m a recovering Catholic. Am I sure I didn’t write this?”

And I agree, comments are like crack. They make you high and you can’t wait for your next fix.

I love this song. It has such a good beat and rhythme to it. I love to sing it. I can relate in many ways. I really did use to carry the weight of the world, and I want to be an actress and model and I am going after my dreams and hopeing they work out, so now i am spreading my wings and flying.
