Mmm, mmm, breakfast

Breakfast just looked so good this morning, I had to preserve it for posterity :). From left to right, my healthy oatmeal (oatmeal with cranberries, cinnamon, ground flax, and brown sugar), lite yogurt, and mixed fruit (mostly cantaloupe, blueberries, and blackberries).
Yum!
All this for about $2.70. Now, you may be saying, “well, that’s great for you, but I don’t have such a great cafeteria.” That may be true. But I have worked in this building for over eight years, and until this past year, a healthy breakfast just wasn’t part of my day.
Also, while I enjoy this breakfast, it’s not like any of these are my absolute favorite foods. I’m choosing them primarily for the health benefits. Oatmeal, berries, and yogurt are in the list of Superfoods Rx foods (and yogurt may provide a boost re weight loss). Flax and cantaloupe both have their health benefits, and cinnamon is thought to boost insulin sensitivity.
I wouldn’t call this a ringing endorsement of the reverse diet, but I do think that getting such a healthy start in the morning is a good thing (to steal from Martha :). Of course, if you really, really hate eating breakfast, at least one group doesn’t think it’s the end of your weight loss efforts.
But I can tell you that I can go from 8AM until noon without any problem!
