In Her Shoes

So I went to see a sneak preview of In Her Shoes on Saturday. I liked it a lot, as chick flicks are generally my fave movies. I’ll skip the blood, violence, and science fiction…give me a good relationship story any day.
However, I must admit to being saddened, just a bit, by how the PR, and the movie, both play up Cameron Diaz’s tiny little body. The reviews make the point that the older sister is “plump” or “larger”, yet Toni Collette is hardly that. And the director’s attempt to make her frumpy don’t really work…except in comparison to Diaz, who spends much of the moving showing her, umm, assets. But there’s a great scene involving Collette, sex, and the lights that is really touching.
Ah well, I guess it could have been worse. The movie version of Circle of Friends had a different ending than the book. Authors must just love that.

I saw it to and the whole time I’m pissed because the book is about primarily the Toni’s character. They even changed the book cover to show Diaz. The movie was pretty close to the book which was a bit awkward. Now I see why directors change book dialog and scenes and opt to portray the essence of the book. I thought it was okay.
